Best RUGS for Families with Kids & Pets

By TheHawkinsOnTheHill

When choosing the perfect rug for a space, there are several questions to ask yourself. Is it a high traffic area? Is it an area where the kids or pets will be often? Is it a space that is remarkably busy with color or more neutral? You can create perfect harmony by having contrast between your rug and furniture, your rug and flooring, and/or your rug and room accessories to create the achieved look. You can create beautiful design by choosing a rug that does not perfectly match the colors of your main pieces throughout a space to make a statement. You can also use different textures to be just as effective.

The colors and textures may be different, but they can still fit the overall theme.

Rugs from LNC Home are kid approved, pet approved, and farmhouse fanatic approved!

FOR LOW TRAFFIC AREAS

I consider low traffic areas the formal dining areas, master bedroom, and front entryway. Low traffic areas may look different for everyone based on which rooms are utilized most. Low traffic areas are where you can place rugs with less pattern and more white space because they will be less likely to show dirt or wear in these areas.

Part 2

FOR HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS

High traffic areas in my home include the kid’s bedroom, living room, back entry, and kitchen. This is where I choose rugs with a busier pattern and more colors prevent it from looking worn or dirty in between cleaning days.

RUGS I LOVE FROM LNC HOME

WROUGHT IRON TRELLIS RUG

The wrought iron trellis rug is perfect for living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchen spaces. Its texture is designed to withstand high traffic areas. The muted colors provide opportunity to create a desired neutral farmhouse look while brightening the area for a light and airy feel. For me, this rug enabled me to create a whole new vibe for our breakfast nook and we could not be more pleased. Our breakfast nook is what I would call a semi high traffic area. We use it about fifty percent of the time. That is why I went for a rug with more white space because I wanted to make a statement while keeping it practical at the same time.

TURKISH WHITE AND BLUE-WASHED DISTRESSED RUG

The Turkish White and Blue-washed Distressed rug is what we chose for our nursery. The nursery is a clean and neutral style room, so we wanted something that would tie everything together and add more to the area. Since this is a high traffic area, we chose a rug with a lot of patterns and colors. This rug is the perfect bedroom rug and feels amazing on your feet. Is the one of the softest rugs we have ever owned. Since my kids get a lot of floor time in the nursery, the texture is perfect.
